As part of the Eid-al-Fitr celebrations and to implement the Fasting Action for Development (Aksi Puasa Pembangunan/APP) during Lent, PT PéMad International Transearch organized a social activity with the theme of “PéMad Shares Love” in which they handed out staple food packages and Easter hampers.
This social activity was carried out over the course of two days; first, on 28 April 2022 where they distributed staple food packages, and second, on 21 May 2022 where they distributed Easter hampers. This kind of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) event held by PéMad represents the company’s commitment to the members of the community and highlights its core value of caring for others.
PéMad wishes to exert tangible and sustainable positive influences, especially for community members who were most affected by the pandemic. It goes without saying that the COVID-19 pandemic affected children’s homes as they received a significantly lesser amount of donations. Through this social activity, PéMad hoped to provide a positive contribution to alleviate the burdens of children in such affected homes.
We sincerely hope that it helped to put a smile on their face and to lift their spirits up.
This series of social events kicked off on Thursday, 28 April 2022. Leading up to Eid-al-Fitr, PéMad distributed 10 staple food packages to community members in need around the office, at Jl. Palem Raya, along with bottled water for mosques around our TTC office in Gentan village.
The subsequent event was held on Saturday, 21 May 2022, when PéMad visited three children’s homes in three districts, namely Sleman, Bantul, and Kulonprogo.

Toggle1. Yayasan Hamba Children’s Home, Pakem
The first location we visited was the Yayasan Hamba Children’s home located in Klaten, RT 002/ RW 013 Harjobinangun Village, Pakem Sub-district, Sleman District, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The 12 members of this “PéMad Shares the Love” committee left for the children’s home at 08:30 from our TTC Office in Gentan and arrived at the location at 09:00. We were warmly welcomed by the staff at the children’s home and some of the children living there.
We then talked a little about the children’s activities there and how Yayasan Hamba plays a role in teaching religious harmony. This home takes care of children of different religious backgrounds. Most of them suffered some sort of rejection from their families. At Yayasan Hamba Children’s Home, PéMad donated 29 packages containing stationary, snacks, and t-shirts for toddlers, kids, teenagers, as well as adults. “We are very grateful for all the attention and donations PéMad gave to our children here.
We wish PéMad greater success in the future, and we hope that PéMad and Yayasan Hamba can continue to maintain a good relationship,” said one of the management members, a statement that wrapped up our meeting that day.
2. Brayat Pinuji Children’s Home, Boro
Once we were done handing out packages in Pakem, we then carried on our journey to Brayat Pinuji Children’s Home, located in Boro Sub-village, Banjarsari village, Kalibawang Sub-district, Kulonprogo District, Special Region of Yogyakarta. We arrived at the children’s home at 11:30 and were warmly greeted by a member of the children’s home management (contact person: Bapak Rudi) and some of the children there who had already come home from school.
We talked a bit about their activities, the children, and the role of Brayat Pinuji Children’s Home in Boro. We were also given a chance to look at some of the facilities there, such as the classrooms, the praying room, the dining room, and bedrooms. Bapak Rudi talked a lot about where all these children came from and how they ended up there.
After some time, we handed over 61 packages containing stationary, snack, and t-shirts for toddlers, kids, teenagers, as well as adults to be distributed to the children there. Before saying goodbye, we took a quick picture to commemorate this special occasion. “Thank you for your visit and the gifts,” Bapak Rudi said as he waved us goodbye to our next destination.
3. Santa Maria Children’s Home, Ganjuran
The final destination of this social activity was Santa Maria Children’s Home which is located at Jalan Ganjuran, Sumbermulyo Village, Bambanglipuro Sub-district, Bantul District, Special Region of Yogyakarta. Upon our arrival at 15:00, we were welcomed by a member of the children’s home management (contact person: Ibu Yuli) and Sister Magdelin Sri Winarti CB. We talked for a while about the activities here, the children, as well as the role played by Santa Maria Children’s Home, Ganjuran.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get the chance to meet the children as it was their nap time. PéMad handed over 61 packages containing stationary. snacks, and t-shirts for toddlers, kids, teenagers, as well as adults. “Thank you for paying us a visit. The gifts you’ve given us mean a lot to our children,” a member of the children’s home management said. She then said, “We hope that PéMad continues to grow, becomes more successful, and continues to spread joy to many people.”
By the end, everyone had smiles on their faces and it was time to call it a day. The joy we felt that day shows how PéMad’s sincerely interprets and manifests ‘humanity’ in its very essence. We hope that the “PéMad Shares the Love“ program will continue for the years to come.
An overview of the three children’s homes we visited is available at the end of this webpage. If you wish to find out more information about these children’s homes or how to give donations to them, please reach out to the contact person for each children’s home.
4. A Brief History of the Yayasan Hamba Children’s Home
Yayasan HAMBA “Yayasan Sahabat Manusia Pembutuh Cinta/Friends of Those in Need of Love Foundation” is a Children’s Social Welfare Institution (LKSA/Lembaga Kesejahteran Sosial Anak). As an independent institution, Yayasan HAMBA is not affiliated with any particular religious groups and is open to any children from all sorts of backgrounds who have received rejection.
Yayasan HAMBA was founded by Ibu Lestari Projosuto (born Klaten on 11 May 1943) who never ceases to dedicate herself to humanitarian causes. Her journey began in 1976, when she helped homeless people in Jakarta. In 1980, Ibu Lestari became a foster mother for street children in Jakarta. In 1995, she then moved to Yogyakarta along with her children.
At that time, her humanitarian activities were managed under an institution known as Yayasan Aulia. But in 2012, Yayasan Aulia Yogyakarta changed its name to Yayasan HAMBA. Since then, 15 October 2012 is known as the establishment date of Yayasan HAMBA.

5. A Brief History of Brayat Pinuji Children’s Home
In 1930, Brayat Pinuji Children’s Home was founded out of concern for the fate of neglected children who were in need of proper care, nutrition, and education. Brayat Pinuji Children’s Home is one of the social institutions run by the Sisters’ Congregation of St. Fransiskus (OSF) located at Jl. Ronggowarsito No. 8 Semarang. It officially started operating on 31 December 1934, Brayat Pinuji Children’s Home, Boro .
In its early days, the Children’s Home was located behind St. Yusuf Hospital, Boro. They were then forced to relocate in 1995 due to the increasing number of children, poor environmental hygiene which caused the children to often get ill, and lack of proper facilities. The new location is a new, bigger, and proper location in terms of facilities and sanitation. This very location is where Brayat Pinuji currently operates to help children grow properly and hopefully discover their potentials.

6. A Brief History of Santa Maria Children’s Home
The Santa Maria Children’s Home in Ganjuran has the motto of ″Blooming and Spreading the Love of God″. In the beginning, the existence of this children’s home was not too clear. Initially, it was just a dormitory run by Mrs. Caroline Schmutzer in 1927 to accommodate Javanese girls who wish to go to school in Ganjuran. They were young girls from far away villages, such as Panggang, Sanden, Celep, and Pundong.
On 4 April 1930, the Saint Elisabeth Hospital was officially open to serve patients in need of medical care. That was also the day when the sisters of Carolus Borromeus started their services in Ganjuran. As time went on, the services provided by those sisters through this hospital were widely recognized by members of the community that more and more patients came to seek treatment there.
Among those patients, there were apparently a large number of children from poor families and even orphans who were brought there for treatment. Apart from that, the hospital also cared for babies who were abandoned by their mothers at birth. Back then, there were quite a lot of poor and neglected children and orphans that were looked after by the Saint Elisabeth Hospital.
In response to such a situation, Sr. Franka CB came up with an idea that proved to be a solution. She proposed that there should be a children’s home where these children can receive a more intensive and better care. Back then, girls were looked after at the female dormitory built by Ny. Schmutzer, whom we mentioned earlier.
Meanwhile, boys were taken to the Boro Children’s Home in Kulonprogo, which was managed by the Brothers of FIC. After 25 years of service (1970-1995), the children’s home decided to separate itself from Saint Elisabeth Hospital and has continued to build its existence ever since.
